Communication – Transparent and easy communication between all members of the team (and stakeholders if necessary)is a must, Project management tools are at hand to improve communication and ensure everyone is working in tandem. There are no more silos as everyone is connected and sharing data & information like never before. Everyone is able to give feedback and be accountable for their duties.
Identify roles of each member – Assign specific roles and tasks to each team member. This enables them to know what the company expects from them and their contribution to the success of the team and company at large.
Innovative workspace – A creative and innovative workplace where ideas & feedback are encouraged enables members to shed their inhibitions and communicate, collaborate freely. Performances are improved and better outcomes are the net result.
Foster ties – It is imperative to ensure good relations and ties between team members to improve collaboration. This can be achieved in many ways such as off-sites, team-building exercises, fun games, activities and outings, encouraging feedback and mentorship. You can even have a “secret Santa” day once a month.
Voluntary work - Get the team members to come together once a month or a week to work together for an hour or 2 with a local NGO. Participation in a good cause and working together in a single pursuit helps build team spirit, camaraderie, and goodwill which is hard to replicate. Organise town halls – Organise Company or team get together on a regular basis depending on the size of the company. Big MNCs have annual town halls where top achievers are recognised and rewarded. Positive ambience – This applies to the top management and leaders. It’s incumbent upon them to be happy, positive, humble, and approachable at all times.
